Everybody knows what a robot is, but believe it or not, unless you're into science fiction books movies and television, not many people have ever heard of an android. So what is an android? Well the short definition is that it is a robot in human form, like Rachel, the "heroine" of our story.
ANDROID is set in the near future of about fifty years where robots are common place. In fact, resentment has slowly built up regarding the use of robots because it is believed that they take the jobs that hard working men and women want to do. And while robots have indeed taken over many of the more mundane, dangerous and tedious jobs that men and women used to do, how close are we to having an android like Rachel around? The answer is: maybe closer than you think!
